Link Building Then and Now

Hi everyone. I hope everyone of you are doing fine.  The topic that I am going to discuss today is about link building  then and now. As all of you who are in the SEO industry or doing online marketing must be knowing that Link building has changed drastically  in 2-3 years.
Earlier when we talked about Link Building or Off page SEO it consisted of
  • Directory Submissions
  • Blog Commenting
  • Forum Commenting
  • Social Bookmarking
  • Questions and Answers
  • Image Submission
  • Guest Blogging
and more spam techniques which SEO's used to do gain high rankings in search engines. But Today if we see SEO has evolved to much a greater extent due to spam fighting algorithms like Penguin. Links from low quality sites or black hat seo techniques are severely penalized by Google.
Article spinning which used to work a year ago has also been tackled very intelligently by Google's algorithm.
Now you will wonder if there is any scope left for an SEO to do in off-page activities?
The answer to this question is yes. There is surely a wide scope left for an SEO to do in off page activities.
As we all know content is king. Providing a good and valuable content is the key to a successful link building strategy. When you write a content you should take into consideration your readers. Write content for readers(audience) and not for search engines.
If you are successful in enticing your readers. You have done 60% of your work as an seo. Rest  40% will be done by your readers. Viral publicity is the best way to attract attention in todays era.  People are always in search of information which would help them in their day to day life. For example an online marketing would always be in search of techniques that would help him attract more people. So if you write something informative and out of the box ideas which you think have proved beneficial for you. Then surely he's going to read it and if he likes it  he will share it with his fellows.
This is how you will get good traffic and your link building graph will slowly start to increase.

How Good quality Content and backlinks has put me on top of GOOGLE

I want share the experience I had with my blog with u all. I started this blog just for doing some experiments with blogging. I was new to the SEO world. Didn't knew anything about Google's ranking algorithm. What are the techniques to rank your site or blog well in google. Earlier on I just used to copy and paste content from other sites on my blog. But later on I realized that copied content is not being entertained by google and I could suffer a penalty just because of this. I edited my blog post wrote them in my own words with a unique content.  After this I started submitting my url for indexing again. But still there was no traffic to my blog. I started doing off page activities for it. Kept on updating the blog every week with a new post which had something informative for the readers.

How social media helped me ?

I opened a Facebook page for my blog. Kept on posting links related to online marketing at a regular interval. Promoted my page to increase the Facebook likes. Now some of my post started gaining likes and also people started liking my blog post as well.
The same experienced I had with twitter I increased my followers. I followed people who belonged to the same industry and tweeted my blog post frequently so that the people over there can read and make some comments on them.
Pinterest was very useful. I have shared all the tips and trick on my blog post how to harness the power of social media?
Keyword Research

I did a keyword research and inserted those words which had a high search volume and low competition. After few days my blog started ranking for the word "Best online marketing tutorials". I also noticed that there was no internal linking on my blog post so I also edited each of my blog post and gave an internal linking structure to it.
I also did some blog research on how to write blog post how to schedule them. What are the techniques used everything and all I started to get good knowledge from them. Here I would like to mention inbound.org because I got to learn a great deal from this site.

How to Harness the power of Social Media

In today’s post I will be talking about how you can use social media effectively to create brand awareness and to drive a large amount of traffic also termed as “Referral Traffic” in SEO world. I know you might know some of the tactics that I am going to discussing today. But I would like to mention here that this post is for newbie’s and experienced SEO gurus.
First of all I will start with Facebook the very popular social media platform ever who has gained success in a very short span of time. All of you might be having a facebook account. You use it for personal use like connecting to the people whom you know or who are living around you and would like to become friends with you. You share your personal updates, photos and memorable moments on your wall which appear in the news feed of your friends. The power of facebook lies in this, your update is being viewed by your friends who are in your list. Now suppose, for example I would say that your facebook profile has about 200 friends. Now when you do an update this update is published in the news feed of all those 200 friends. Now if they like and comment on your update that update goes viral. It will appear in the news feed of their friends as well. If they like it they will share it. Sharing is a good option given by Facebook. The more the number of shares the more the virility of your post will be. Now let’s take these things to the Facebook business page.
Facebook Business Pages are best way to create brand awareness. First of all you need to build a good Facebook business page. Profile picture and cover picture are the most important factors which will help you in improving your facebook likes because whenever you see a post on Facebook page and hover over it, it’s the profile & cover picture that is visible at the first glance. If they have the potential to attract the visitor he will visit your page and may even like it. So keep in mind choose or create an appropriate profile picture and cover page.
After these things are done the updates are the ones which are going to give you your visitors who in turn will become your future customers. Updates must be done on a regular basis. Now you should prepare some strategy. First of all make a note of what your competitors are doing to get likes and increasing the engagement of their Facebook pages. You should involve those points in your strategies as well. But keep in mind people always like to see something new so try to do something which is different and engaging. This strategy will be different for different pages.
First of all make a note of all the people or visitors who will show interest in your page. Target the age group, the gender. The geographical region from where you want your customers or visitors to be and make a note of the things that they will find exciting and will compel them to visit your page.
After you have done all these things you can share those updates in different groups related to your business. For a change you can try sharing your updates in groups which doesn't belong to your niche. It is just for an experimental purpose if it works its good for you, if it doesn't then you stop sharing the updates on those groups because the moderators might ban you from the group.   Tagging of images should be done rarely because what I have experienced is people don't like tagging themselves in images. The reason is they get a lot of notifications which is annoying at times. So always ask your friends before tagging them, otherwise they might dislike your page just because of your tagging activity.
Maintaining the "people talking about" of your page
This is the most difficult task which I have faced while handling social media campaigns. Increasing the number of likes on your facebook page will not earn your profit or will give you a good return on investment. It is the "people talking about" which matters the most.   Over the years I have noticed that whenever there is a steep decrease in "people talking about" on your page. You should do some interactive activity on your page. Such as start a contest on your page. Facebook offers are a good way to increase the talking about of your page. Use a third party app which you can integrate very easily on your facebook page and will give you a detailed report on the number of likes increased while the contest was live. The region from where the entries came from and the most important is how did they came to know about your facebook contest.
I guess if you follow these tips for your Facebook page you should be able to get a good engagement ratio.

Pinterest

This site has evolved a lot after people starting realizing how it can be effective in gaining traffic and backlinks. Earlier people used to pin their favorite images just for fun and entertainment. Nowadays pinterest has developed into a good platform for social media.  The marketing technique works like this when you pin an image on your board. You can give a description along with your site URL in it. You can also add a website to your own pinterest profile. Suppose a visitor likes one of your images he will visit your profile to see your boards. If he finds those boards interesting he will visit your website to see what do you do what services do you provide and much more.  If you verify your pinterest profile after adding a website to it, you can get access to analytics which will help you in measuring your marketing goals on pinterest.  Tip of advice for all the marketers on pinterest is that, don't just keep on pinning your images on the board. Take out some time and like what others are pinning. Add a comment to their pins.  What this does is that they will also like your pin and re-pin it on their boards. It helps in establishing a relationship with  your followers. Also it increases the virility of your pins.
Twitter

Twitter doesn't need any introduction, as most of you must be using it on a daily basis. But I would like to pin-point some of the marketing techniques that you can use in your twitter account to achieve brand awareness and traffic to your site.   Hash tags are very useful tool twitter has given for marketers. When you write some word with a hash tag it becomes a link. So if you want your tweet to show for that particular word simply put a hash tag before that word and tweet it.  Now when anyone searches for that words all the tweets with that hash tag will show up in the results. Which will include even your tweet which has that hash tag in it. So just a single word with a hash tag before you can earn you your potential customer.
Also I would like to mention the use of link shortener's because you are limited only to 140 characters. They shorten your URL so that you get more characters to give your message to your followers.

Qualities of a successful blog

First I would like to explain what blogging is.  A blog is a type of website but it is mostly for personal representation of a person or a company.  You can post what are the latest updates happening in your life or the updates happening in your company. Famous people have their own blog. They get a lot of followers since they are already famous in their life, so people subscribe to their blog automatically since they are already famous and very less marketing efforts are required to get the desired traffic to their blog.

But what if you want to start your own blog? You have to answer some simple questions.

1)Why do you want to open your blog?
2)On which topic are you going to write your blog?
3)Have you done a proper research on that topic?
4) What is your ultimate aim of starting a blog?

If you have the answers to these questions then you are sure to go ahead.

·        Which blogging website should I choose to start your blog?
There are number of websites which allow you free blogging.
But I would like to list of few of them which I them are best
1)    Wordpress
2)    Blogger
3)    Live Journal
4)    Weebly.com
  • What content should I write on my blog?
First of all do a thorough research on the topic on which you are going to write a blog. See what other people are blogging on the same topic. Does not copy paste the content of other blogs because that would have a negative effect on your blog. People are searching for something new to learn if they find that you are writing same thing what they have read on other blogs they might not read your blog. So content should be fresh and rich.

  •   Images are best way of engagement?

When you read a newspaper which news do you read first the one with image associated with it or the one with plain text? I think so you have got your answer. Images are the best way of explaining your point and simplest way for some complex topic to get it understood by your audience.

  •         How do I get people to know about my presence?
First of all you should choose a suitable title for your blog. Your blog name must contain the word which people are searching in the SEO world this word is termed as “Keyword”. Keywords are nothing but the search term that you enter into the search engines like Google, Yahoo and Bing while searching something. So you should embed those words in your blog topic which you think people are searching for.
  • Social Media  is the best way to get attention
Nowadays the numbers of people using social networking sites are increasing day by day. They are best place to market yourself or your brand.
If people like your stuff they will share it with your friends. This will help you in increasing your online presence. Facebook, Twitter and Google+ are the best in the industry for social media.
  • Use Javascript in your blog to make it attractive

You can use Feedjit to track the people who have recently visited your blog. What this does is the new people who are reading your blog post are also able to see the locations from where people are reading your blog post. So they come to know about the popularity of your blog.
You can also use pageviews. What it does is, it shows the count of number of pageviews your blog has received. The more the number of pageviews the more popular your blog is.
You can also add a link of your profile on the blog to get people to know about you.
  • Measure your success
Use tools like Google webmasters. Google webmaster is the best tool to monitor your blog performance. It will show you whether your blog is getting crawled by Google bots or not. If not it will show you the crawl errors. It will also show you the traffic for the words for which people are getting towards your blog.
Google analytics is another such tool for measuring the blog popularity. It    has advanced options through which you can monitor your success or work on your failures easily.

  •       Thank your audience

Finally after writing your post you should thank your audience for investing their valuable time in reading your blog post. Allow them to comment on your mistake and also ask them to suggest for any improvisation in your blog.

Keywords are the Heart of SEO

Why keywords are important for SEO ?

Keywords are like gold when they are used in doing SEO for some website.Choosing the appropriate keyword is the key to a succesfull SEO campaign.Choosing the keyword type also matters a lot while doing SEO for some website.Just think the scenario if you choose some keyword at random after that you did a good on page & off page activity, after several months you realise that your website is not getting listed on the first page of  search engines. You will get confused as to why your website is not getting the boost in organic search results. So always figure out the right keywords for your website.Make a list of all the features your website is offering.List those words in a excel spreadsheet find out the global searches using google keyword tool which i prefer you may use other tool according to your preference.

After figuring out the searches make sure that the competition for those keywords is low. The low the competition is that much less time it will take to get your website up in the search results.
Make sure the keywords which you are going to use for your website are relevant that is they are present in your website content.

Always use long tail keywords because long tail keywords have less competition & generally people searching for long tail keywords are likely to buy a product or we can say that they are really interested in buying or making business with the website they are searching.Broad keywords are more competitive like for example if someone types mobiles it is a broad keyword we don't get to know what the user exactly wants to do with mobiles whether he wants to buy, sell or collect some information about mobiles. So i would recommend you to go for long tail keywords for your website.

These are the general guidelines which i follow while doing a keyword research for my websites. If there is something different you people are using please let me know :)

The answer is simple the keyword that you have chosen is a highly competitive one it has crore of searches in  the allinurl: forget about the natural search result it will be much more.

Checking your Marketing Goals

How to check whether your website is meeting your goals?

You have done all the hard work to get maximum traffic from search engines & all other Online mediums like social networking, blogs, forums etc.But how do you get to know which people are visiting your website, for how long & so on.The answer to this is google Analytics. Google has provided a very useful tool which helps us analyze our traffic sources by using Google Analytics. Using this tool is very easy all you have to do is go to google.com/analytics & sign up using your existing gmail id & password. After that it will ask you to add your website to the google analytics tool. After this is done it will ask you to paste a code in your website page. This code is specially made by Google so that it will help the Google analytics tool to understand who is viewing your website, for how long, from which geographical location. So you have to just page this code on every page you think is important for your website traffic so that you get to know if  that page is performing according to your required goals.

Google analytics shows you the new audience which have visited your website. It will also show you the returning users which means those who have already visited your website earlier on & are returning back to get information about some new products or facilities that you have launched recently. It tells us the bounce rate. Bounce rate is nothing but a user visiting your website & viewing it for a certain amount of time to get some information.Bounce rate should be as low as possible because if it is high then so even though 10000+ users may be visiting your website is useless because a high bounce rate shows that users didn't find anything interesting in your website & they closed it immediately.

Technology section helps us to determine users which are viewing our website from a particular Operation systems, whether they are viewing from a mobile, tablet or any other devices. Traffic section is important one as far as SEO of the website is concerned because it gives us the information about the traffic sources how many users are visiting from the organic section, how many from different other sources. So Google analytics is a very important tool it helps you in establishing you goals very easily.

Measure your visits Accurately

What do i mean by that is, many people setup Google analytics very accurately. They start getting visitors but they fail to release that most of the visits that are showing up in their Google analytics dashboard is from their own company. Accurate measurement is also necessary for your website marketing success.

But there is a solution for this given by Google Analytics, for that you have to click on the tab next to Home tab in your dashboard. Once you click there you will see various options like Assets, users, Goals, filters. Now you have to go the filters tab, there you can filter the IP address from which you dont want to track the visits.
