     This is the most important SEO technique to increase your SERP status.
     Directory submission is just submitting your website to a directory which has a good Page Rank
  If that directory approves your website it is regarded as a vote for your website thus improving your position in the Google search results.
     Directory submission is free & paid mostly people go for free in paid version your website is approved quickly by the directory than the free version which may take a week or months depending on the directory site you have chosen
     There are 3 types of Directory submission

•    One way submission

•     Two way submission

•     Three Way submission

   
    In One Way submission we submit the URL of our website to the given directory we choose a particular
category according to our website like if our website is for online shopping then we choose Online shopping as the category.
  Note : This is the best submission amongst all the three as google gives high preference to one way submission so alaways go for one way submission.
In Two way submission we submit the URL of our website like we do in one way but we have to include a reciprocal link that is the link of that directory in our website.
In Three way submission we submit the link to say other website B that website B will submit their link to some website C & C will submit back to A. So this is considered as one way submission but its like cheating the google bot if  google bot recognizes this activity it might ban your website.
